XLine Dubai Marina Zipline Experience

XLine Zipline Facts:

Flying on a Superman position (superman harness) on one of the double line setups, you will be ziplining for 1-kilometer long with a speed of (up to) 80 km/h. To know more about the requirements and terms & conditions, check it HERE!

Location: Dubai Marina

Situated in Dubai Marina Mall, the office of XLine is at the P2 Level Parking of the Mall next to Waitrose. It is NOT inside the mall area but rather in the parking area.

So, if you have a car:

• Go to P2 Level
• Drive towards the Waitrose Entrance and you will find XLine at the right hand side of the parking section but not directly at the entrance of the mall.

Or, if you're taking public transportation:

• Take the Dubai Metro and get off at DMCC
• Transfer to the Dubai Tram and get off at Dubai Marina Mall (1 stop away only).
• Go inside the mall and walk towards Waitrose which is on the ground floor and the right side of the mall (if you’re facing the promenade)
• Take the escalator down to the parking (next to Waitrose), go out of the mall, and walk for a few meters. XLine’s office is on the left side of the parking area.

Zipline Experience:

First thing first, upon my arrival, I signed a waiver before anything else. I was then weighed by the staff and was given a wrist tag with a label of my weight. My belongings were kept in one of their lockers that you can freely use, I was asked to leave everything behind, my mobile phone is exempted though.

I was asked to join a few more people and all of us took the free shuttle transportation provided by XLine. During our short ride towards Jumeirah Beach Residence, an instructional video was playing inside the vehicle which I find comforting and helpful.

Shortly after, we entered a residential building, took the lift to the highest floor and took a flight of stairs to access the rooftop. A door opened and voila! This view awaits you! 🙂

In no particular order, I was asked to do an interview, some pictures taken, and then assisted while wearing the harness and kept my mobile phone secured inside a hip belt they provided. I can't remember which one goes first but I know for sure I'm the last one to take the plunge.

I knew I had a fear of heights too, but maybe it's not obvious because of the hikes that I usually do especially my favorite one (Stairway to Heaven). However, when I reached the platform before my take-off, I was nervous as a kitten. One thing's for sure, I'm not afraid, just nervous. All the staff were kabayans (Tagalog term for countrymen - meaning they are all from the Philippines), so they were all just teasing me, and then in the blink of an eye, off I flew!

Conclusion

A friend once called me an adventure freak and the zipline experience made me think, 'I guess I am'. The zipline experience in Xline Dubai is indeed not for everyone. While it doesn't look that high, those who have an intense fear of heights may freak out at the sight of it alone. However, if you're someone who wants to challenge (your) fear of heights, this is probably the best way to start with. I felt secured while doing it and I know someone from the company who have installed it.

But at the end of the day, I might NOT do it again. Not because I'm done with the adventure, but because it's too expensive for me - a whopping 650 AED. With that amount, I'd rather spend it on buying GEAR or funding my HIKING costs (logistics, guides, etc.).

How did I afford to pay for one? I didn't. I'm so grateful to my colleagues who gifted me this experience as their farewell gift when I resigned from my role. They knew I was always up for an adventure!

Nevertheless, the zipline experience was amazing! The feeling of thrill and rush in the air felt like 10 minutes and everything went slow in my vision. Was that the true meaning of enjoying the moment? Could be. And it's priceless.

In the end, I even got a complimentary voucher from Five Guys which I have redeemed just this month (August 2023)! How cool is that though?
